Note: This topic is intended for License Administrators and describes the process for setting up network-based licenses to allow multiple users (one at a time and at one site) to access a Keysight software license over a network server. Licenses are allocated in real time by the network server.
The process selected by Keysight for setting up network-based "floating" licensing uses a licensing service called FlexNet Publisher® from Flexera Software. The FlexNet service enables software licenses to "float" on a network server and not be tied to one specific computer. Network licensing involves a server-clientinteraction in which a client computer is required to check out a license from a server computer in order to access the software application (one license at a time and at one site).
The process for installing a network-based "floating" license for a Keysight software application is summarized below. For detailed step-by-step instructions, see Installing the Floating License Server.
Go to http://www.keysight.com/find/floatinglicensemanager to download the files required to install and configure the Keysight Floating License Manager application.
Configure the license server using the lmtools.exe utility, which was one of the files extracted from the LicenseServer.zip file in Step 1 above. Using this utility, you will provide the directory path locations of the License Server Manager utility (lmgrd.exe), the purchased floating license file (*.lic), and the Debug Log file (*.log).
